Who We Are

We are grateful to the literally hundreds of experts from peace and conflict-related fields whose intellectual contributions have made the Beyond Intractability system possible. Our Article Contributor and Interviewee pages list these individuals and provide links to short biographies.

Beyond Intractability (BI) and CRInfo were both created by the Conflict Information Consortium (CIC) which was housed at the University of Colorado-Boulder from January 1988 - May 2020. The Consortium Co-Directors, Heidi Burgess, Ph.D. and Guy Burgess, Ph.D. retired from UCB in May of 2020, and since the university did not have anyone else who wanted to take over CIC or BI, we were allowed to "take these programs with us." We did, and are now running the CIC as a free-standing organization.

BI, CRInfo, and the various spin-off projects such as Moving Beyond Intractability and the Constructive Conflict Initiative  were originally concieved, developed, and are still edited and directed by the Burgesses. However, over 500 other people have contributed content to these to projects, as authors of essays, case studies, blog posts, and other articles and/or contributing an interview about their scholarship and/or practice.
